    About The Aranmula Kannadi:

The famous 'Aaranmula Kannadi' is made in Aranmula village In Kerala State, India by the traditional craftsmen.

What makes the Aranmula mirror special is not just its craft, but it is a metal mirror that is front-reflecting.

In conventional plane mirrors, light travels through the glass and back, so it gets refracted and changes direction, giving a distorted image, with the distortion varying on the quality of the coating applied.

This is why typically many household mirrors have a different look to them depending on size, quality, and even placement.

With the Aranmula mirror, because of its unique combination of metals and hand polishing, the reflection takes place on the front surface which eliminates any secondary reflections and distortion giving a pure and almost perfect reflection.

Creating the mirror is a green and environmentally friendly process. The material used is eco-friendly and obtained locally. There is minimum waste as most of the material is recycled.

It is believed that keeping an Aranmula kannadi in the house brings prosperity and luck to the owner. For this reason, it is given as a gift during weddings and housewarming ceremonies.

The mirrors have received a geographical indication (GI) tag in 2004-05. The British Museum in London has a 45m tall Aranmula metal mirror in its collection.
